A customer required a temperature control valve sized for particular
flow conditions under normal plant operation. Occasionally, there is a
requirement for extraordinary flow circumstances that are beyond the means of
the duty control valve. A single larger valve would result in poor control
under normal conditions. This circumstance, along with the customer's desire to
have as much equipment pre-assembled as possible, led to the design of this
split range temperature control module. Two control valves, sized for several
varying conditions with NELPROF, are installed on a single pipe module set up
for split range control. Also mounted in the module is a temperature controller
already configured for the customer, a high temperature audible alarm,
isolation valves and strainers. All components have been functionally tested
after assembly and the piping has been pressure tested for leaks. An RTD
temperature element is the only component shipped loose thus allowing the
customer to minimize his field construction costs for installation and
configuration.
