COMPANY
HISTORY

A Rich History
Mead O’Brien benefits from the rich history of two revered institutions,
Mead & Sons and O’Brien Process Controls, which combined in 2000
to create a larger, more diverse company.
The individual companies, Mead & Sons and O’Brien Process Controls,
both emerged as leaders in their respective markets over the course of three
generations of family-ownership. Founded by Boyd Mead, Mead & Sons has
roots in Kansas City stretching back to 1936, while Edward J. O’Brien,
Sr. started his company in St. Louis in 1926. Over the years, these companies
developed similar reputations as superior solution providers, and they evolved
to represent many of the same product lines to service their respective markets.
In addition, the Mead and O’Brien families had met on several occasions
and forged a relationship of mutual respect. Therefore, the merger in 2000
was a logical and seamless transition into the twenty-first century.
The combined company, Mead O’Brien, has the solid foundation of over
110 years of collective industry experience and benefits from abundant long-term
relationships with the world’s leading manufacturers for the steam, water,
and process markets. Led by Michael and Jeanette Mead and their son Ron Morrison
as President, Mead O’Brien is now positioned to offer the latest in technology
and the ultimate in service, system integration, and application knowledge.
